    APS College of Clinical Psychologists Student Prize
  • Introduction
    The APS College of Clinical Psychologists Student Prize acknowledges postgraduate clinical psychology students in Master, Doctor of Psychology programs, and combined Masters/PhD programs who demonstrate high levels of clinical skill, combined with the ability to design and conduct clinically relevant research. The Prize is offered at each Tertiary Institution offering an APAC-accredited Postgraduate Clinical Psychology program.

    Nomination process
    Only one candidate can be nominated by the Head of Department from each Australian tertiary institution, irrespective of the number of campuses offering clinical psychology programs. Nominations must be made using this form, and nominations close 28 February 2024.

    Eligibility
    Nominees must be students who have completed their final year of clinical training of an Australian Tertiary Institution with an APAC accredited postgraduate clinical psychology program.

    Selection criteria 
    In judging nominees for the Prize, the Chair of the Award Selection Committee will have regard to the following criteria:

    • the application of a scientist-practitioner model in research, coursework and placements;
    • the development of a research project in the area of clinical psychology with a research question reflecting current areas of interest and need in clinical psychology
    • the achievement of high level of clinical skills as judged by academic staff involved in teaching clinical interventions and also by peers. This may include consistently high marks on supervisor reports from placements; and
    • the provision of support to fellow peers and the promotion of team work as judged by peers and academic staff.


    Prize Value
    Successful candidates for the APS College of Clinical Psychologists Student Prize will:

    • receive relevant membership of the APS and the College for the next membership subscription period;
    • have their name and University listed in an edition of the InPsych magazine;
    • receive a certificate of acknowledgment of their achievement, presented at a locally organised APS College of Clinical Psychologists event
    • have their names, thesis title and their supervisor's name published on the APS College of Clinical Psychologists website.
