Although it is not a requirement to have both a Facilitator and a Presenter at a webinar/in-person workshop, however, depending on the number of participants in attendance, managing functions of both roles by the Presenter alone may impact the delivery quality of the event.
Role of Facilitator
A Facilitator welcomes participants to the webinar/workshop, explains the relevant housekeeping items, introduces the Presenter, and manages the order of events of the webinar/workshop, including any break-out sessions and any Q&A session that may be occurring in the chat section of the webinar platform.
Role of Presenter
A Presenter delivers/presents the content of the webinar/workshop.
The number of participants in webinars and workshops should be limited to facilitate achievement of the learning outcomes.
- Peer consultation CPD requires a maximum of 15 participants per session.
- Workshops should be limited to 25 participants per presenter.
- Larger groups should have facilitators assigned in addition to the main presenter.
Example A: A workshop has 35 participants, and due to the increased level of interaction and assessment, this requires one presenter and two additional facilitators.
Example B: A webinar has 100 participants, the level of interaction is limited to questions via chat, this requires one presenter and one facilitator.
